Carl Earls, Head of Risk - Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands

 

Carl has over 20 years of experience in the credit insurance industry, underwriting a cross section of industries and markets. He is committed to providing excellent customer service and understanding each client's needs.

 

He started his journey with Atradius out of our UK office in 2000 and has been based in Australia since 2008. He has previously held roles in underwriting, special risk management and prior to his current role successfully headed the Key Account Underwriting team for Asia Pacific.

 

In his current role Carl manages a team of 13 who are responsible for delivering credit limit decisions to customers so they can trade safely with new and existing buyers. The underwriting team manages over 50,000 applications per year, using a combination of algorithmic automation and their expertise.

 

Carl holds a Batchelor of Arts in History and Politics and is a voting member of the Asia Pacific Credit Committee and sits on the Australian Leadership Team.

Alena Dobes, Senior Underwriter of Global and Key Accounts

 

Alena Dobes works as a Senior Key Account Underwriter. Alena has more than 25 years of experience in banking and insurance. Before starting with Atradius, Alena worked for two years in EFIC as an industry underwriter responsible for the food and textile portfolio.

 

Prior to that, Alena worked for ING Bank in the Czech Republic, Poland and the Netherlands, specialising in risk management in relation to corporate and trading risk. She moved to Australia in 2000 to complete a Master of Commerce degree at Sydney University.

 

Alena joined Atradius in October 2003, when it first established its Australian operation.  Since then, she has worked in the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices. In her current role, Alena is responsible for a number of credit limit portfolios (global and local) and she is actively involved in the underwriting of new business opportunities. Previously Alena was responsible for underwriting risk in South East Asia.

Alex Hsieh, Underwriting Manager

 

Alex works with the Risk Services team as the Underwriting Manager for Oceania since 2020.  He joined Atradius in 2013 in Singapore, underwriting the Japanese and South East Asian markets across various industries. 

 

Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining Atradius, Alex worked in credit management roles in ICT and Manufacturing.  

Kelvin Szto,  Senior Underwriter Oceania

 

Kelvin has over 16 years of experience in the credit insurance industry, with previous experience in different countries and insurers.

 

He started his career in TCI in 2006 in Hong Kong, short-term allocated in different countries throughout Asia. Before joining Atradius Hong Kong in 2017, Kelvin has a variety of experiences in underwriting different sectors in Asian countries.

 

Kelvin joined Atradius Oceania in 2022 as a Senior Underwriter and is now handling ICT (Electronics)/ Telecommunications/Energy & Fuel sector.

Linda Chu, Senior Underwriter

 

Linda Chu is a Senior Underwriter in the Risk Underwriting team, and she now manages our Retail, Consumer Durables, and Packaging Sectors.

 

Linda joined the Atradius underwriting team in 2015 based in Hong Kong and relocated to Taiwan in 2017. Linda started to work in the Sydney office in 2023. With more than 8 years of underwriting experience, she previously underwrote different sectors including Electronics, Transport, Energy and Fuel, etc.

 

Linda holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Hong Kong and a Master's Degree in Management from the University of Edinburgh. She has also completed Level III of the CFA program.

Mon Razak, Senior Underwriter

 

Mon Razak is a Senior Underwriter on the Oceania Risk Underwriting team. She manages the Construction portfolio for Australia and New Zealand.

 

Mon joined the Atradius Risk team in April 2008 in Sydney and relocated to Singapore in 2013 for a Senior Key Account Underwriter role. Mon moved back to Australia as Senior Underwriter in 2021 and she is now based in Melbourne.

 

Mon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Marketing from the University of New South Wales.  With 18 years of experience in the credit field (15 years at Atradius), Mon is one of the most senior underwriters on the Atradius Risk team.

Sweta Iyengar, Associate Senior Underwriter

 

Sweta Iyengar joined Atradius in 2014, located in our Indian office before moving to Sydney in 2017 where she now underwrites our construction portfolio.

 

Sweta enjoys working for Atradius because we have a cooperative spirit and shared goals that revolve around helping our clients. She works in a logical, precise manner to make sure her underwriting knowledge proves valuable to our clients, ultimately protecting them from non-payment.

 

Prior to Atradius, Sweta worked for JP Morgan Services India Pvt. Ltd and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and Post-Graduate qualification in Management specialising in Finance.
