Mark Hoppe, Managing Director
Mark has more than 17 years of experience working in the credit insurance industry. His career began as a broker in 1997 as a broker.
His career at Atradius began in Sydney in 2006 as the Head of Client Service, which saw him responsible for all the day-to-day client and broker issues. In 2011 he transitioned into the role of Head of New Business for Atradius Australia. In 2012 Mark then moved to the USA to take the role of Executive Manager Global NAFTA. He then became Managing Director for Oceania in August 2014. Based in Sydney, Mark holds an MBA from the University of Technology.
Mark believes that people and relationships are the key to business success. He is proud of the culture within Atradius and the focus on staff, clients and brokers.
Carl Earls, Head of Risk - Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands
Carl has over 20 years of experience in the credit insurance industry, underwriting a cross section of industries and markets. He is committed to providing excellent customer service and understanding each client's needs.
He started his journey with Atradius out of our UK office in 2000 and has been based in Australia since 2008. He has previously held roles in underwriting, special risk management and prior to his current role successfully headed the Key Account Underwriting team for Asia Pacific.
In his current role Carl manages a team of 13 who are responsible for delivering credit limit decisions to customers so they can trade safely with new and existing buyers. The underwriting team manages over 50,000 applications per year, using a combination of algorithmic automation and their expertise.
Carl holds a Batchelor of Arts in History and Politics and is a voting member of the Asia Pacific Credit Committee and sits on the Australian Leadership Team.
Cees Boertje, Finance & Control, Asia Pacific
Cees Boertje started working for Atradius in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) as Director Control in 2000. Before moving to Sydney in 2004 he worked for 2 years in Cologne (Germany). Based in Sydney, Cees is responsible for Finance in Asia-Pacific and the India and Dubai region.
In addition, he is responsible for Controlling and Compliance in Australia and New Zealand. Cees completed a Master's Degree in Business Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
His working career started at one of the “Big Four”. Before moving to Atradius he worked for 11 years for the dredging and construction company Royal Boskalis Westminster NV. For this company, he worked in various roles in the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Singapore.
David Lloyd, Special Risks Management for Oceania, Asia Pacific, Africa, India & Middle East
David Lloyd manages the Special Risks teams both here in Australia and remotely throughout the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.
Based in Sydney, David has a Master’s Degree in Financial Management from the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. David has over 30 years’ of experience in the Trade Credit Insurance industry and has occupied senior management roles in Risk Underwriting, Claims and Special Risks Underwriting & Recoveries for the Oceania and Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions.
Special Risks relates to the management of “Higher Risk” corporates and recovery thereof as well as directing the course of recovery on larger reported debts to ensure losses are reduced for all. His expertise and experience in the corporate analysis, local and regional debt recovery and insurance law is certainly beneficial.
Hannah Walters, Human Resources, Senior Manager Oceania
Hannah Walters is the Senior HR Manager for Oceania and Senior Business Partner for APAC & the Middle East and India. Hannah has over 25 years of Insurance experience in both the UK and Australia and has worked in the risk area for over 20 years, mostly recently heading up the Risk function in Australia/New Zealand.
Hannah brings this wider business understanding to the HR role across the region. Hannah started working for Atradius in 1997, in the UK based in the HR function; she has a Business and Finance Degree (majoring in HR and Industrial Relations) from the University of Wales, Swansea.
Joe Lewis, Head of Client Services
Joe has over 15 years of insurance industry experience across broking and insurer roles in Sales and Account Management. Joe joined Atradius back in 2014 and has worked within our Sales & New Business Team, fulfilling the role of Joint Head of New Business in recent years until taking up the position of Head of Client Services for Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
In his current role, Joe is responsible for managing a very experienced team of Account Managers across Australia and New Zealand to deliver an exceptional service proposition for our clients and broker partners.
Prior to joining Atradius, Joe spent a number of years working within broking roles in London, including with international broker Willis (now Willis Towers Watson) at their Global Head Office. Joe holds a business degree from the University of Tasmania majoring in Business Management and Marketing, along with a Diploma in Insurance.
Jonathan O’Doherty, Head of New Business
Jonathan is the Head of New Business, joining Atradius initially in 2005 for three years as a Senior New Business Manager before returning to us in 2017 in his current role.
Jonathan was admitted to the Law Society of Ireland in 2010 working as a Lawyer for two years before returning to Melbourne, Australia in 2011.
Jonathan endeavours to work with customers in a considered manner and understands a Brokers’ perspective having worked for Risk Mitigation Solutions for four years on his return to Australia.
Lianne Cabsaba, Finance, Oceania
Lianne manages the Finance functions in Australia and New Zealand, covering aspects of financial, statutory and tax reporting for the company. Prior to joining Atradius in 2013, she worked for a variety of companies, starting as a Tax consultant in one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
She then moved to financial accounting working for multinationals spanning multiple industries such as telecommunications, air transport, print media and eventually general insurance. Based in the Sydney office, she also oversees group reporting requirements for the credit insurance branches and fronted operations in Asia.
Lianne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accountancy, and is a registered Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) in both Australia and the Philippines.
Mark Shehadie, Head of Claims
Mark Shehadie is the Head of Claims for the Oceania region and has worked for Atradius for over 16 years.
He started the Atradius Collections business in 2006 and has been managing the Claims assessment and recovery department since 2017. He is also the Executive Claims Manager for all Atradius Global clients worldwide.
His commercial approach to trade credit insurance insures a fair and reasonable approach is taken with all key stakeholders including our clients, brokers, and legal partners.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Economics from UTS as well as a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Mary Ibrahim, Head of Product & Policy Underwriting, Asia & Oceania
Mary Ibrahim has our brokers and customers at the forefront of her thinking every day. She is responsible for making sure our products and policy underwriting principles meet our customers evolving needs.
On a day to day basis, she will listen to customer feedback and develop new product structures and policy wording. She will also train staff members across the region on these new policies and procedures so they're smoothly integrated into our customer experience.
Mary is based in Sydney and has over 30 years’ experience in credit insurance. She previously worked at the Export Finance & Insurance Corporation (EFIC) responsible for various roles in the credit insurance business and has travelled extensively around the world researching buyers, industries and meeting with them as well as banks and government officials. She moved to Atradius following the divestment of the EFIC business in 2003, again working in all areas of the credit insurance business.
Mary graduated from Sydney University with an Economics Degree and Macquarie University with a Master’s Degree in Economics and International Finance. She is very passionate about great customer service and staff development.
